Stargazing event at Ocala Regional Sportsplex

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the Gainesville Observatory and local astronomy clubs, is inviting the community to a stargazing event this weekend.

On Saturday, March 2, at 6 p.m., “Astronomy Night” will be held at the Ocala Regional Sportsplex, which is located at 3500 SW 67th Avenue Road.

During this program, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the night skies while gazing at the stars with fellow observers. The University of Florida Observatory’s director and associates will be on site with their telescopes.

The event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.

All attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.

In preparation for the upcoming event, the Ocala Regional Sportsplex will be closed at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. This closure includes all softball fields, basketball courts, and volleyball courts.

The sportsplex will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 3.
