The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host Earthfest, the city’s Arbor Day celebration, on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tuscawilla Park.
The free family-friendly event will offer a variety of activities for attendees of all ages. At 10 a.m., the popular two-hour Youth Fishing Derby will take place, providing participants (ages 14 and under) the opportunity to catch and release fish at Lake Tuscawilla.
Prizes will be awarded in three age group brackets for catching the most fish and catching the biggest fish. A limited number of supplies will be available, though participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait. Registration for the fishing derby is not required.
In addition, Earthfest will include rock wall climbing, butterfly feeding, eco-friendly vendors, animal rescues, food trucks, and live music. Tree sapling giveaways will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The city is accepting vendor applications for the event through Monday, March 4. Interested vendors can click here to apply online.
