Due to the potential for inclement weather, the “Astronomy Night” event scheduled for this Saturday at the Ocala Regional Sportsplex has been canceled.
According to the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, the event will be rescheduled for “later this year.”
Hosted by the recreation and parks department, in partnership with the Gainesville Observatory and local astronomy clubs, the “Astronomy Night” program will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about the night skies while gazing at the stars with fellow observers.
During the program, which will be held at the Ocala Regional Sportsplex (3500 SW 67th Avenue Road), the University of Florida Observatory’s director and associates will be on site with their telescopes.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.
All attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
