City of Ocala rescinds precautionary boil water notice

The City of Ocala has rescinded a precautionary boil water notice for customers in the area of SW 1st Avenue to Sanchez Avenue, between Fort King and SE 12th Street.

The original notice was released on Monday, April 18 due to a system malfunction and the risk of water contamination in the affected area.

Officials with the city’s Water Resources Department have advised that the water is now safe to drink, cook with, and carry out all normal daily activities.

The lines in the affected area were flushed and several samples were collected. Test results showed that there were no signs of bacteria for two consecutive days, and the chlorine residual met regulatory standards.
