Marion County officials just advised that several Ocala communities will be under planned precautionary boil water notices beginning Tuesday.
Marion County Utilities issued the advisory on Monday morning for customers within the following communities: Bluefields, Delcrest, Fort King Forest, Hi Cliff, Regency Estates, and Sleep Hollow.
According to the county, the advisory comes in response to planned water main updates and valve installations that are “part of the continued efforts to improve the dependability of facilities acquired by the county to serve these communities.”
“Customers within these communities are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted. As an alternative, bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth,” reads the statement from Marion County Utilities.
According to the county, water used for laundry, bathing, and showering does not need to be boiled.
Over the weekend, the county issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers within the Ocala communities of Fore Acres, Hillside Acres, and Courtney Acres.
Last week, a separate boil water notice was issued at Bluefields and Fort King Forest for similar repairs.
Marion County Utilities says that it will notify customers via email, phone, or through social media once the notice has been lifted.
