The Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 37th consecutive year.
This certificate was awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, and it recognizes the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending on September 30, 2021.
The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and attaining this award is considered a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
During the Marion County Board of County Commissioners regular meeting on Tuesday, Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Gregory C. Harrell and the Senior Finance Team at the Marion County Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office were recognized for this achievement.
“I commend Finance Director Jennifer Cole and her team for helping us achieve this significant certification,” stated Harrell. “The full and accurate reporting of Marion County’s finances is an arduous, but important and necessary task that the citizens of Marion County deserve and can take great pride in knowing is being done with excellence.”
