Separate Ocala shootings leave 1 dead, 1 injured

The Ocala Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that left one man dead and another man wounded on Friday night.

According to OPD, officers responded to the 2000 block of SW 4th Street at around 7:15 p.m. in reference to a shooting incident that injured one man. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim who had sustained injuries that are deemed “non-life-threatening.”

While officers were at the scene of the first shooting, OPD received reports of another shooting that had occurred at around 8:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of SW 1st Street.

When OPD officers arrived at the scene of the second shooting, an adult male victim was found deceased in a vacant lot. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Detectives are actively investigating both shooting incidents. “At this time, it is not clear if these two shootings are related in any way,” stated the Ocala Police Department in a media release.
