More bombs will be tested by the United States Navy this week at a site within the Ocala National Forest.
According to the U.S. Forest Service National Forests in Florida, the training exercises will continue on Thursday, March 28, from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Pinecastle Range Complex, which is located within the forest.
Those traveling near the Ocala National Forest and surrounding areas during that time are encouraged to use extra caution, as wildlife may be temporarily displaced during the testing.
Locals are advised to secure items around their residences that could attract wildlife.
“Always be mindful of larger animals including black bears and practice bearwise measures,” reads a statement from the Navy Air Station Jacksonville’s website.
The Pinecastle Bombing Range Complex is over 5,700 acres in size. Each year, the Navy tests approximately 20,000 bombs at the facility. In addition to inert (inactive) bombs, the Navy is authorized to use 500-, 1,000-, and 2,000-pound live bombs during the testing.
