3 dead, 1 injured after stolen MCSO patrol vehicle crashes into pickup truck

Three people were killed, and another critically injured, after a stolen Marion County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle crashed into a pickup truck on Thursday afternoon.

According to MCSO, the fatal crash occurred in the 26700 block of E Highway 40.

Three individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident, and a fourth person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office has advised that all traffic on E Highway 40, between Forest Road 88 and Highway 19, is currently closed due to the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently on scene to conduct an investigation.

No further details were provided regarding the theft of the patrol vehicle or the individuals involved in the fatal crash.
