A 73-year-old landlord who was declared missing after she skipped a court date related to an incident with one of her tenants has been found dead.
Loraine Dawn Snyder was located deceased this morning, according to a statement issued by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
“Unfortunately, Loraine was located deceased this morning, March 21, 2024. No foul play is suspected. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time,” reads the statement.
Snyder was declared missing by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, March 20, after she made “several statements” that caused concern for her well-being.
Her death comes a week after she was arrested for allegedly getting into an altercation with a tenant’s girlfriend.
According to the arrest report, Snyder, who was a landlord, accused the tenant’s girlfriend of trespassing at the home and demanded that the woman vacate the premises on March 12.
At the time, Snyder allegedly climbed into the window of the home and attacked the girlfriend. The victim provided authorities with video showing Snyder entering the home through a window and telling the victim that she would be “leaving against her choosing.”
During a conversation with a sheriff’s office corporal, Snyder admitted to entering the tenant’s home through the unlocked window and further admitted that the altercation occurred when she tried to get the victim to leave the residence.
Snyder allegedly told the corporal that she initially was “accepting” of the victim temporarily staying at the tenant’s home, but was under the impression that the victim was looking for another place to live.
Snyder was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail on March 12 and, according to Marion County court records, she made her first appearance in court on March 13 at 9 a.m.
Snyder bonded out of jail at 6:25 p.m. later on March 13. Court records show that she was scheduled for pretrial detention on Monday, March 18, at 9 a.m., and that she was “not present” for that hearing.
