The Tipsy Skipper will try its second soft opening of the year after they had to delay the official opening amidst nationwide closures from the COVID-19 quarantine.
Located at 48 S. Magnolia Ave, the new tiki-themed bar sits next door to the Marion Theatre in downtown Ocala. From the moment one enters, the theme is evident through the chairs, tables, drinks, fixtures, and decorations.
The specialty drinks range in their offerings, mixing fruit flavors with all kinds of alcohol. The Luchador is a Jarrito, which is a Mexican soft drink, mixed with your choice of rum or tequila. A Bitter Mai Tai features curacao and lavander bitters, while their Flyin’ Hawaiian is a combination of Smith and Cross Overproof, pineapple, and simple syrup.
Although the tiki bar had originally planned on opening in late 2019, multiple delays set them back before quarantine began, just a week after their first soft opening.
The Tipsy Skipper plans to stay open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It will close on Monday, and then reopen on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
