Ocala veteran starts wooden flag art business

A local veteran has started a new business creating hand-crafted, wooden flag art that he sells online and at Market of Marion.

Heroic Hands Woodworks officially opened for business earlier this month. Owned and operated by Zachary Smith, the new business sells custom handmade flags, coin holders, and concealment cases.

Smith’s flags combine classic American templates and crests together on a fully customized wooden backdrop.

Smith’s customizations regularly feature multiple branches of the armed forces, including the Navy, Marines, and Army, to name a few.

“If you’re looking for a custom flag with the highest quality, I’m your dude,” said Smith in a social media post. “As a starving artist, I’m here to build the best and baddest.”

Heroic Hands Woodworks ships its products to all 50 states through its website. During the last weekend in August, Smith began selling his products in person at the Market of Marion, which is located at 12888 SE U.S. Highway 441 in Belleview.
