Another 7-Eleven nearing completion on Maricamp Road is one of several new locations for the national convenience store in Ocala dating back to last year.
The chain’s newest location in Ocala is currently under construction at 2590 SE Maricamp Road, near the roadway’s intersection with SE 25th Avenue.
In addition to the convenience store, the new site on Maricamp will feature an automated car wash and a Laredo Taco, which is a quick-service restaurant that serves tacos and other food.
The opening of the location will come over two years after the site was first announced by city officials.
During public meetings in the summer of 2021, residents from a nearby neighborhood expressed their opposition to the new convenience store.
It joins at least five others that have opened in Ocala since 2022, including another location at 2655 SW 42nd Street, in the Grand Oaks Town Center.
New locations have also opened at 8230 SE Maricamp Road, 5670 SW College Road, 2811 NW 10th Street, and 917 N Pine Avenue dating back to last year.
According to data company ScrapeHero, 7-Eleven operates nearly 10,000 locations across 2,377 cities in the United States, including approximately 1,011 locations in the state of Florida. That ranks the Sunshine State third in for company behind Texas (1,411) and California (1,902), according to ScrapeHero.
7-Eleven is one of several national brands that have expanded their presence in Ocala, both in locations and in operations, over the past several years.
That includes mega corporations like Amazon, Chewy, AutoZone, and FedEx, as well as relatively smaller brands that see Ocala as an integral part of their growth, like Mellow Mushroom and Buc-ee’s, among others.
