Make sure to cast your vote for Rex, a K-9 officer with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office who is seeking to become the “Top Dog” in this year’s K9 March Madness Tournament.
Voting is open through Sunday for the competition, which is hosted by the Florida Sheriff’s Association each year.
“March Madness is for the pups, and it is that time of the year again,” reads a statement from FSA. “While many are gearing up for the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament, we’re excited to bring back the K9 March Madness Tournament to determine the Top Dog in Florida!”
In each round, canine units from across the state of Florida will compete head-to-head for votes, with the winner advancing to the next round. Round one currently features 16 matchups.
Rex, who is a member of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, is currently pitted against “Highway,” a canine that works for the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office in northwest Florida.
As of Friday morning, Rex is leading the poll with 2,073 votes (56%) to Highway’s 1,622 votes (44%).
Voting for the competition ends on Sunday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
