Walter Davis Key, of Ocala, passed away March 19, 2024. He was born June 2, 1962, in Statesboro, Georgia to the union of Willie D. Key and Lelia L Key.
Walter lived his life as Man of God who sought to improve his community and country through acts of services. He served in the Army for 6 years. He continued to serve others utilizing his master’s degree through several avenues of community outreach such as prison mnistry, and counseling individuals who were in drug and alcoholic recovery programs.
Walter was a huge believer in helping the youth and held many positions that gave him the opportunity to mentor the youth as well as coach young men who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play sports. Most importantly, Walter was a man of honor, who lived to help everyone; committed to his family, faith and his values. He will always be remembered for his lasting impact on the community and everyone he met.
Walter Key is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his three children, Christopher, Calvin and Cory; nine grandchildren, and brother Robert H. Key (Pearl)of Fern Park, FL, Levonia Narin (Charles) of Smiths, AL, Geraldine Key of Maryland, Nursie M. Thomas (Moses) of Smiths, AL, Anthony L. Key of Cocoa, FL and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Linda Faye Hardy, Brenda Key, Four brothers David A Key, Robert L Key, Avery Key and Alphonso Key.
Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services Chapel (910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470) on Monday, April 1, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 10:00AM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Fl.
