To the Editor:
I understand that pet lovers would prefer an animal shelter. But a shelter is nonprofit and would always need the assistance of the community. Now an ice rink, that is a money-making opportunity.
I have seen comments on here stating that we northerners who want an ice rink need to return to the north. I migrated from Canada, and I’m willing to offer my time for free to coach kids and offer skating and hockey classes for free.
For those saying there is no hockey in Florida: well, for your information, there are two NHL teams, 3 ECHL hockey teams, and dozens of roller and ice hockey leagues throughout Florida both for the young and old alike. We also have three champion speed skaters here in Ocala that have to practice anywhere but Ocala.
Tell me again why we do not need an ice rink.
