Driving laws can vary from state to state

To the Editor:

There have been numerous complaints concerning the driving here in Ocala. I don’t disagree! There should be more of a police presence on the roads, especially as the roads are chock-full of vehicles caused by all the new subdivisions and apartments being built!

However, the laws in this state might not quite be the same in other states. Most are, but the occasional law concerning turning right at a light, and many others, might be different. For instance, people that have come from different areas of the country might not know you can turn right at a light after stopping. We have many snowbirds that might have different rules of the road from where they come from.

It may be helpful for the Driver’s License office to hand out a book of rules (like when you first get a license) when people are moving here from different states to get a Florida license. I am not naive to think this will help everyone because there are always going to be some that don’t follow the rules of the road.
