An Ocala singer who was just one round away from the live episodes of American Idol was eliminated from the competition last night.
Despite earning a golden ticket during his audition for the show and making it through the first round of cuts during “Hollywood Week” on Sunday, Emery Robbins was not among the 24 singers who advanced to the live portion of the show.
The young singer was eliminated after his performance in the Showstopper Round on Monday, April 1.
During the episode, judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry reduced the field from 56 contestants to 24, just one day after the “biggest cut in American Idol history,” according to host Ryan Seacrest.
Robbins was one of 119 singers who were eliminated between Monday and Sunday, the two rounds following the auditions for the 22nd season of the show.
Although Robbins was not featured in the show and his musical performances did not make the final edits, the young singer was shown in the audience and on stage during broadcasts.
Over the past several months, Robbins has posted photos alluding to his journey through the show.
On Sunday, Robbins posted a photo from the set and thanked those who have supported him along the way.
“Thankful and grateful for this experience and for all the prayers and support,” said Robbins in a social media post.
