Healthgrades has ranked HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital No. 1 in Florida for joint replacement, orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, vascular surgery, and surgical care in 2024.
These rankings were calculated using new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. In addition, both HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital are also among the top 250 hospitals in the United States for hospital quality.
“These achievements put HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance, a reflection of the commitment of both hospitals to exceptional patient care, and distinguish the two hospitals as among the state’s leading healthcare providers for specialty care,” stated HCA Healthcare in a media release on January 30.
HCA Florida Ocala Hospital CEO Alan Keesee stated that the mission of both hospitals is “simple yet profound: above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”
Keese further stated that HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital are grateful to receive Healthgrades’ top distinctions year after year. “(It is) a testament to the tireless dedication and hard work of our colleagues and care teams in ensuring outstanding patient experiences.”
To determine the top hospitals for 2024, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Unlike other hospital studies, Healthgrades ratings are based solely on patient outcomes.
According to Healthgrades, the 2024 analysis revealed significant variation in hospital performance. From 2020 to 2022, if all hospitals, as a group, had performed similarly to the average performance from America’s 250 Best Hospitals, Healthgrades states that approximately 178,400 lives could potentially have been saved.
Brad Bowman, M.D., the chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades, stated in the media release that the top-ranked hospitals in each state deliver “consistently superior outcomes for the patients in their community.”
Bowman added, “Consumers should feel confident knowing that they have access to top-ranked care at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital.”
