The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is launching a new program this spring that will allow college-bound students, ages 14 to 18, to tour multiple colleges and universities in Florida.
“This immersive experience offers prospective students an opportunity to discover the educational institutions that call Florida home,” stated the City of Ocala in a media release.
During each day of the event, participating teens will visit several colleges and universities while also experiencing the culture of each location.
The cost is $25 per person, per trip, and buses will leave from the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue in Ocala.
Participants will depart at 7 a.m. and return at approximately 8 p.m.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
- Monday, April 15 – Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College, which are both in Tallahassee.
- Wednesday, April 17 – Jacksonville University and University of North Florida, which are both in Jacksonville.
- Friday, April 19 – Bethune Cookman and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which are both in Daytona Beach.
- Monday, June 3 – University of Florida and Santa Fe College, which are both in Gainesville.
- Monday, June 17 – Webber International University in Babson Park, Warner University in Lake Wales, and Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
- Monday, July 8 – University of Central Florida in Orlando, Full Sail University in Winter Park, and Rollins College in Winter Park.
- Monday, July 22 – University of South Florida and University of Tampa, which are both in Tampa.
