Around 447 horses were sold for $66.5 million in this week’s three-day sale at Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company, including one horse that sold for $1.8 million.
The 2024 March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training took place at the facility, which is located at 1701 SW 60th Avenue in Ocala, from Tuesday, March 12 to Thursday, March 14.
In total, the March sale grossed $66,487,600, which was over a 7% decrease from the 2023 gross ($71.5 million). The average price for each horse this year was $148,742, while the median price was $75,000.
During the first session, 153 horses were sold for a total of $20,844,000. During the second session, 144 horses were sold for a total of $25,488,000. The third session saw the sale of 125 horses for a gross of $18,912,600.
Next month, the Spring Sale of Two-Year Olds in Training will continue from April 16 to April 19. All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m.
The largest sale over the three-day session came on Thursday, when the daughter of Win Win Win, consigned by Ocala Stud, was sold to Zedan Racing for $1,800,000.
On day two, the highest sale came when a son of Not This Time was sold for $1.5 million.
At least three other horses also breached the $1 million sales mark during the three-day session.
