A 22-year-old convicted felon was arrested by Ocala police in connection with a shooting incident at a local convenience store that sent two people to the hospital on Monday evening.
At around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, November 13, Ocala Police Department officers responded to the Kwik Stop convenience store located at 2066 W Silver Springs Boulevard in reference to shots being fired in the parking lot.
Officer McGee was close to the convenience store at the time and heard multiple gunshots in the area. When he arrived on scene, he pursued and apprehended a man who was later identified as Jordan Karod Goodman. The arrest report stated that Goodman was wearing a black ski mask, and he was carrying a bag.
A search of Goodman’s bag was conducted, and officers recovered the following: 32 individual “small rocks” that field-tested positive for cocaine, over a dozen baggies filled with a white rock-like substance that field-tested positive for MDPV, and a clear sandwich bag containing a “large rock” that also field-tested positive for MDPV. The report stated that the MDPV was “individually bagged” and appeared to be “packaged for sale.”
In addition, the report stated that a .40 caliber Glock handgun was recovered on a nearby sidewalk in the area where Goodman was apprehended.
Additional officers arrived at the convenience store, and two male victims were located who had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital.
The first victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg, just above the knee. He told officers that he was walking out of the convenience store when someone yelled, “Look out!” When he turned to look, he was struck in the leg by a projectile. He stated that the gunshot came from the “pharmacy area,” which is located to the east of the convenience store, and he identified Goodman as the alleged shooter, according to the report.
The second victim told officers that he was shot while he was walking into the convenience store. The report stated that the projectile struck the inside of the second victim’s left leg.
At the scene of the shooting, officers found ten 9mm caliber shell casings on the west side of the parking lot. Officers also observed a dumpster on the east side of the parking lot and two nearby vehicles that had been struck by projectiles.
During a post-Miranda interview, Goodman told officers that he had “returned fire” after allegedly being shot at by an unknown man who left the scene in a vehicle.
A criminal history search of Goodman revealed that he has prior felony convictions for possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed firearm. Goodman told officers during the post-Miranda interview that he had spent three years in prison and was “just recently released,” according to the report.
Goodman was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $47,000 bond. He is being charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and possession of MDPV with intent to sell.
A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, according to jail records.
