A family traveling in Ocala had a scare on Thursday morning when their vehicle burst into flames.
According to Ocala Fire Rescue, the family was traveling on NW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue shortly before 9:40 a.m. when their vehicle experienced a mechanical malfunction.
Moments later, that mechanical issue sparked a fire.
Several OFR units consisting of Engine 1, Rescue 1, and Battalion Chief 11 rushed to the scene and observed a maroon Chrysler PT Cruiser that was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly attacked the fire using a pre-connected hose, and the flames were extinguished within one minute.
The vehicle’s occupants had safely exited the vehicle prior to the arrival of firefighters. There were no injuries reported.
