Woman steals over $11,000 from family member, Marion deputies say

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman who allegedly stole thousands of dollars from one of her relatives over a three-month period.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods stated that the female suspect, Meredith Ann Kay, is wanted for one count of grand theft and 15 counts of uttering a forged instrument.

According to MCSO, Kay allegedly stole checks from one of her family members, forged the victim’s signature, and stole more than $11,000.

“It is bad enough stealing from a stranger, but to steal from the people who care for you is heartless,” stated Sheriff Woods. “Citizens, if she is willing to do this to her family, we need to get her off the streets.”
