Inglis man killed in fatal crash on U.S. Hwy 19

A 68-year-old Inglis man was killed in a fatal crash along U.S. Highway 19 in Levy County earlier this week.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash took place on U.S. Highway 19 near SE 140 Lane in Levy County on Monday, November 8 at around 6:20 p.m.

The 68-year-old Inglis man was traveling north in a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 on U.S. Hwy 19.

Directly behind him in the same lane, a 37-year-old Williston man was traveling in a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

The Inglis man’s Chevrolet truck came to an abrupt stop to make a right turn, and the Dodge truck collided with the rear of the vehicle.

After the collision, the Chevrolet truck traveled in a northeastern direction until it overturned on the grass shoulder.

The Dodge truck veered off to the left and came to a controlled stop in the grass median.

Levy County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and the driver of the Chevrolet truck was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Dodge truck was not injured.

The names of the drivers involved in the accident have not been released, per FHP policy.
