Marion County firefighters rushed to the 20800 block of Chestnut Street in Dunnellon early Wednesday morning after receiving reports that a house was on fire.
At around 12:08 a.m., multiple Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residence on Chestnut Street. A citizen had called 911 to report that the house was filled with smoke, and another 911 caller advised that everyone had safely evacuated from the property.
MCFR’s Dunnellon Engine Company #3 unit arrived on scene within a few minutes and observed that the 2,500 square-foot home was “fully involved in flames.” Additional crews soon arrived at the home, and a hose line was quickly deployed as firefighters battled the blaze.
Rescue crews searched the interior of the home to ensure that no one was inside. MCFR stated that interior attack crews also entered the residence and located the fire in the attic.
According to MCFR, the fire was under control shortly before 12:30 a.m.
There were no injuries reported. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family that was displaced by the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
