Marion County firefighters responded to the 19400 block of SW 82nd Place Road in Dunnellon on Saturday night after receiving reports that a home in the area was on fire and people were possibly trapped inside.
At around 8:50 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the residence on SW 82nd Place Road after a 911 caller reported that flames were “through the roof,” according to a social media post from MCFR.
Within minutes, MCFR’s Rainbow Springs Engine #22 unit arrived at the home and observed that it was 70% engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line to the front door and began aggressively attacking the fire inside the home.
MCFR’s Dunnellon Engine #3 unit soon arrived on scene and helped establish a water supply. Moments later, Battalion Chief #5 also arrived at the home and requested a third tanker and an additional unit to combat the blaze.
Additional firefighters from Station #12, Station #31, Volunteer Station #25, and Station #16 arrived at the home to assist with extinguishing the flames.
The fire was called under control by MCFR crews at 9:29 p.m.
No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. MCFR stated that the home’s owner was not inside the residence at the time of the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
