A Wisconsin woman died early Sunday after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Volusia County.
An unidentified driver was traveling northbound on I-95 in the right lane, while Gladys Javes, 54, of Green Bay, Wis. was standing next to her 1999 Jeep SUV that was stopped on the right emergency shoulder, northbound on I-95, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. A preliminary investigation showed that the unidentified driver’s vehicle struck Javes in the emergency lane and the driver never stopped, the report stated. Fire rescue was notified about the incident at 4:01 a.m.
Javes died as a result of being struck.
