Four teens were injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County early Tuesday.
Tyler A. Wilkinson, 18, of Lithia was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima traveling southbound on I-75, north of Gibsonton Drive, at speeds approaching 130 mph with no headlights, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Wilkinson’s vehicle passed an unmarked FHP Trooper, who began to conduct a traffic stop as Wilkinson exited onto Gibsonton Drive, the report stated. Once on the exit ramp, Wilkinson lost control of his vehicle and departed the roadway onto the outside shoulder, overturning multiple times along the shoulder before colliding with the tree line and finally a utility pole. Wilkinson and another passenger, 19-year-old Keeley Nicole Faircloth of Riverview, were not wearing seatbelts at the time and were ejected from their vehicle.
Two other passengers, Michael Wayne Osborne, 18, of Riverview and Amanda Evelyn Bohn, 17, of Riverview, were both wearing seatbelts at the time and suffered minor injuries.
All three teens, except Osborne, were transported to Tampa General Hospital. The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
