An Orlando man was arrested Monday morning in Orange County on a charge of driving on a suspended license after crashing into a deputy’s motorcycle.
Jerry Lewis Brown, 36, of Orlando was driving a 2006 Chevy Impala southbound on Pine Hills Road in the left through lane while Deputy Nelson Borjas, 46, of Orlando was riding a marked 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Pine Hills Road in the center bi-directional turn lane with his lights and siren activated, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Brown was directed by another officer to make a U-turn to travel northbound on Pine Hills Road, the report stated.
Brown failed to see Deputy Borjas’ motorcycle as he made the U-turn and traveled into the path of the motorcycle, causing the front of the motorcycle to collide with the left side of Brown’s vehicle.
The crash took place at the location where a deputy had been killed in an accident. Another officer was killed eight minutes away at a Walmart earlier, prompting a manhunt for the suspect all over Orange County.
Deputy Borjas was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
