Marion County health officials are reminding immunocompromised residents across the county that there are opportunities to receive a third COVID-19 vaccine shot.
The Department of Health in Marion County issued the reminder through a press release on Wednesday.
“We want to ensure that our vulnerable residents have the best possible protection from the virus that causes COVID-19,” said Department of Health in Marion County Administrator Mark Lander.
Lander says the county is making the third shot “as available as possible” to give the community access to this critical prevention tool.
The department is providing third Pfizer and Moderna shots to Marion County’s immunocompromised residents at multiple locations including Liberty Middle School and the Ocala Department of Health main facility.
Appointments will be scheduled for this Saturday, September 18 at the school, which is located at 4773 SW 95th Street in Ocala. Appointments will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Residents can sign up by visiting the Marion County COVID-19 Vaccine website.
Appointments at the main facility, which is located at 1801 SE 32nd Avenue, are available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Residents can sign up here.
There is currently no additional shot available for immunocompromised people who have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, according to the release.
