A new pizzeria has taken over the former location of another pizzeria that occupied the spot for nearly three years.
Morelli’s Pizza & Subs has taken over the former location of Florida Pizza Stop at 8721 SE 58th Avenue. The new restaurant officially opened for business on June 15, according to its website.
As with its predecessor, the new shop serves a variety of classic and specialty pizzas, including a barbecue chicken pizza, white pizza, and Margarita pizza, among others.
The menu also features subs, salads, wraps, calzones, and three appetizers: Mozzarella sticks, cheesy buns, and meatballs.
The Florida Pizza Shop originally opened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in October 2020. The previous owners, David and Jodi Alexander, had opened the restaurant to bring New York City style pizza to Ocala.
Morelli’s Pizza & Subs is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, staying open an hour later till 10 p.m. on Friday. On the weekend, the restaurant is open from 12 p.m to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to its website.
