A Popeyes that has been closed for an extended period since its roof collapsed in June 2022, is nearing completion of its newly constructed building, which is slated to open later this fall.
Located at 1713 S Pine Avenue, the fast-food restaurant has taken shape over the past couple months and has plans to open later this fall.
The Popeyes location has been closed for over a year, shutting down after severe storms passed through the area on June 24, 2022. The rains ended up causing catastrophic damage at the business, resulting in a partial roof collapse.
The new Popeyes will occupy the same site and will be the same size of over 2,500 square feet, according to construction records.
The business joins several other restaurants that are currently under construction or were recently completed in Ocala.
That includes Chick-fil-A, which is currently working on its second location in Ocala on SW 48th Avenue, just off SW College Road.
It also includes District Bar & Kitchen, which was built from the ground up at the site of the former Pi on Broadway restaurant in downtown Ocala.
Additional restaurants that have celebrated grand openings this summer include Sweet ‘N Savory Eats, Big Lee’s BBQ, Fat Boy’s BBQ, Pop’s Southern Buffet, Ola Drive-Thru Coffee, SLICE, Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, JAWS Jumbo Burgers, and Let’s Eat Fresh Italian Deli, among others.
