New Indian restaurant opens in Ocala

A new Indian restaurant has opened along a major thoroughfare in Ocala.

On Friday, The Flame Indian Kitchen celebrated its grand opening at 3710 SW College Road. Located in between AdventHealth Urgent Care and a BP gas station, the restaurant started taking shape over a year ago before officially opening on September 1.

The Flame serves a variety of authentic, classic Indian dishes. Starters include favorites like samosas, cheese dhamaka, and mulligatawny soup. In addition to the classic appetizers, the restaurant also features multiple Asian fusion selections as well.

Those include Indo-Korean kimchi fried rice, kimchi fried noodles, chili paneer, and Schezwan chicken, among others.

The Flame features nearly two dozen entrees to choose from as well, including their Flame Chef Special Kadambari, which combines either lamb, chicken, shrimp, or other proteins with a rich sauce made from cashews, onions, tomatoes, mint, and spices.

A slew of other entrees are also available for purchase, including chana masala, paneer bhurji, tikka masala, and Vindaloo.

For dessert, The Flame also features multiple classic desserts, including multiple types of lassi, homemade kulfi, and Rasmalai.

The restaurant features a full bar and is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“We heartily welcome our valuable customers, friends, family members and well-wishers to join us for the grand opening,” reads a social media post from the restaurant.

The Flame joins several other restaurants that have celebrated grand openings this summer, including Crave BBQ and Hot Dogs, Big Lee’s BBQ, Sweet ‘N Savory Eats, Morelli’s Pizza and Subs, Ola Drive-Thru Coffee, Slice, District Bar and Kitchen, and Fat Boys BBQ.

It also includes J Marie Brands, which opened its first brick-and-mortar cheesecake shop in Ocala.
