A new family-owned sandwich shop has opened its doors in southeast Ocala, taking over the former location of a vegan cafe that closed a couple years ago.
Connotto’s is officially open for business at 3751 SE 36th Avenue. Billed as a small family-owned restaurant, the business says it seeks to bring a “taste of home-style cooking to the community,” according to its Google listing.
The restaurant says its “recipes have been passed down through generations,” and that it takes pride in using the “freshest ingredients.”
Connotto’s menu features a variety of hot and cold specialty sandwiches. That includes multiple classic sandwiches like chicken, egg, tuna salad, turkey, ham, or Italian. Among its hot options are sandwiches made with crispy fish, Italian beef, or in the Reuben variety.
In addition to sandwiches, the restaurant also features multiple other options, including hamburgers, fish and chicken platters, hot dogs, and salads, among other dishes. Sides include mac n’ cheese, wild rice, potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, and french fries.
For dessert, the restaurant features different pies and cakes that rotate daily, as well as ice cream sundaes and root beer floats.
“We believe that shared meals and memories are the foundation of any family, and we want to extend that feeling of warmth and hospitality to our customers,” says the company.
The new sandwich restaurant replaces The Dragonfly Cafe, which officially closed over two years ago. The plaza was also previously home to Lotus Market, which permanently closed at the end of August 2022 after a multi-year run.
Connotto’s is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
